“Turnkey” has become a pretty standard term when it comes to buying a house and land package. One of the big attractions of purchasing your land and build as a package, is the convenience of everything being taken care of with a “turnkey” finish. This means you can leave everything up to the tradesmen and all you need to worry about is picking the designs and colours, then turning the key on move in day, to you completed house and garden. Well that’s the idea anyway.
Turnkey however can mean different things to different builders.
I overheard a conversation yesterday from a girl inters on the phone to her Dad about her build not going well. Things weren’t included that she’s expected to be, and it was putting a strain on her relationship and finances. She was at her wits end, and instead of this being an exciting happy experience, it was obviously taking its toll.

This will be for bench tops, cupboard fronts, paint colours, window coverings, carpet choices, extra space, walk in robes, shelving, tap finishes, appliance upgrades, landscaping…not to mention the high quality furnishings and fragrances to attract buyers.
